WBL Workshop #1 - Introduction & Futures and Options by Jorge Carty Diaz

          In this first workshop, we went through the requirements to obtain a CTE Diploma which was the small part of the workshop since most of us know what we need already. The academy has a partnership with Futures and Options that allows Video and Web kids be able to have internships or participate in the different programs they offer. They offer a paid internship where you will have to represent Futures and Options and also our academy in a professional way. They also offer a program that helps you write a resume, teaches you how to behave in a professional workplace and many other things; this program is called Career Essentials.

          I was part of this program and i have to say that they do a great job! I had Shamecca and Devi as instructors and i have to say that they did a great job. They gave me different ways to write a resume. They taught me how to dress up for an interview. They also let me have mock interviews with professionals from other companies to practice our interview skills and that made me feel more comfortable while having the interview, i received a lot of feedback from the interviewers and the staff in Futures and Options was amazing.

          Concluding our reflection. This workshop talked about what we need to graduate in high school with a CTE Diploma and different opportunities we have with Futures and Options which their internships help you check some of the requirements of the WBL.

My experience in the Metropolitan Museum of Art

This experience was great! I loved everything i saw in the museum but of course, there are some stuff that could have been better. Let's start with the negatives so we can finish up with the positives. One negative aspect about the trip was the waiting time outside. It really was a pain to have to wait for around 30-40 minutes outside in the rain. It really didn't feel good but i believe the staff was doing everything as fast as they could to get every single student inside the museum. In the museum i got to talk to many representatives of different programs around New York and they gave us stuff like posts its, pens, little notebooks, pins, stickers, etc. These programs offered many activities, some of them paid and some others free, and these programs were really interesting because one of them offered game development classes, others musical classes and more. LAB 8 - Flash Talk Page by Jorge Carty Diaz

In the lab 8 called "Flash Talk Page" we had to do many things. Maybe it wasn't many things but it was definitely stuff that takes time to prepare and make. In this lab we made a 2 minute speech of an internet issue giving information about the topic in a simple way that everyone would understand. We had a research phase where we were supposed to collect information about the topic. Then we got into the writing phase, which was basically organizing the information we collected from our research and making it 2 minutes long. Then we entered in the recording phase which consisted on recording ourselves reading the speech we prepared in the previous phase. I decided to make the video in my house since i wanted to do it with my own equipment and i believe it turned out being pretty good.
