Blog Intro - Jorge Carty Diaz


         My Introduction 
          Hey, my name is Jorge Carty Diaz. I'm from Peru, a country located in South America. I am attending to Information Technology High School. I am a 15 year old sophomore that is really passionate about designing. I am assisting to an ATE Web Design Academy in my school. I decided to join this academy because i like designing..... anything...... and i think this is the place where i belong, but this is not the only reason why i picked this academy, my dad is a Graphic Designer and he is basically my inspiration to this ''designing world''.

          I feel like this academy will help me in the future like with college credits and if i get a Web Design diploma (which I'm getting for sure) i will be able to get a job doing what i love to do and also, get into college. I have a lot of hobbies like talking and playing with my friends, it can be video-games or a sport. I am a very curious person and i always like trying different stuff (that's why this year i will try to get in a team). I like playing soccer even though i stopped playing it because i wanted to try to play basketball (i still need to practice). My goal for this class is to get the diploma and learn everything the teacher is going to teach me. My goal for life is to graduate from college and have a family that i can support....... but....... My dream, is to become a professional Graphic Designer, like my dad.

My experience in the Metropolitan Museum of Art

This experience was great! I loved everything i saw in the museum but of course, there are some stuff that could have been better. Let's start with the negatives so we can finish up with the positives. One negative aspect about the trip was the waiting time outside. It really was a pain to have to wait for around 30-40 minutes outside in the rain. It really didn't feel good but i believe the staff was doing everything as fast as they could to get every single student inside the museum. In the museum i got to talk to many representatives of different programs around New York and they gave us stuff like posts its, pens, little notebooks, pins, stickers, etc. These programs offered many activities, some of them paid and some others free, and these programs were really interesting because one of them offered game development classes, others musical classes and more. I was surprised by the variety of stuff you were able to sign up for, and all of them were really nice and friendly.

Lab Quince | JS Drum Kit & Clock | Jorge Carty

In lab 15, I was required to create a website that allowed the user to play sounds from a drum kit using the keyboard, to be more exact, with keys like "A", "S", "D", "F", "G", "H", "J", "K", "L". Also, this lab has a clock that tells you the real-time and it's constantly updating. To develop this idea I had to design the clock and the drum kit in HTML and CSS, and add its functionality with JavaScript. For the drum kit, divs were made with specific data-keys and using audio tags that also react to data-keys which makes the sounds work, and the other makes the div get highlighted once you press a key in the drum kit. A function in JavaScript was also made in order to allow the user to spam the sounds, otherwise, the sound would play and the user would have to wait a couple of seconds to play it again.
