TIME TO BRAG - Jorge Carty Diaz

If I compared the freshman me with the present me, there would be a huge difference, from the way I dress up to the way I talk and act. I can't believe I'm in my senior year when it feels like I just arrived to High School 2 weeks ago. People say that when you're at a certain age time goes flying. For me, it has passed quicker than a transition between video clips. My person and personality has grown but not fully developed. I've experienced many things and learned even more and that's what's exciting about High School, it is always unexpected. I never thought I was going to be in a web design class when I was applying for High Schools, and the fact that I will graduate with a CTE Diploma is mindblowing to me. I feel like I'm talking too much but nothing's is relevant to what I've learned in the past 3 years. Let's get to it!

My experience in the Metropolitan Museum of Art

This experience was great! I loved everything i saw in the museum but of course, there are some stuff that could have been better. Let's start with the negatives so we can finish up with the positives. One negative aspect about the trip was the waiting time outside. It really was a pain to have to wait for around 30-40 minutes outside in the rain. It really didn't feel good but i believe the staff was doing everything as fast as they could to get every single student inside the museum. In the museum i got to talk to many representatives of different programs around New York and they gave us stuff like posts its, pens, little notebooks, pins, stickers, etc. These programs offered many activities, some of them paid and some others free, and these programs were really interesting because one of them offered game development classes, others musical classes and more. I was surprised by the variety of stuff you were able to sign up for, and all of them were really nice and friendly.

Lab Quince | JS Drum Kit & Clock | Jorge Carty

In lab 15, I was required to create a website that allowed the user to play sounds from a drum kit using the keyboard, to be more exact, with keys like "A", "S", "D", "F", "G", "H", "J", "K", "L". Also, this lab has a clock that tells you the real-time and it's constantly updating. To develop this idea I had to design the clock and the drum kit in HTML and CSS, and add its functionality with JavaScript. For the drum kit, divs were made with specific data-keys and using audio tags that also react to data-keys which makes the sounds work, and the other makes the div get highlighted once you press a key in the drum kit. A function in JavaScript was also made in order to allow the user to spam the sounds, otherwise, the sound would play and the user would have to wait a couple of seconds to play it again.
