MP3 CE 1 - Jorge Carty Diaz

3 Reasons students aren't into computer science By Jaime Perez This article talks about 3 reasons why students aren't into computer science. We all know that not every high school in the different states offer computer science as a class (I'm very fortunate to have it) and that might be a problem because the salary for computer science careers have increased, meaning that there aren't a lot of computer scientists out there. The 3 reasons Jaime Perez gave out are the following: Lack of exposure, Support, and Social Factors. These are very fundamental because all of those factors affect someone's opinion or perspective towards computer science. When Jaime Perez said Lack of Exposure, he means at the amount of information high school students have about computer science and how emphasized this idea is in schools. These students probably never heard about coding or anything related to it and since they lack of knowledge, they might not know that they like t

HW Parameters and Functions - by Jorge Carty Diaz

Parameters and Functions By Jorge Carty Diaz In this activity, we learned more about Javascript and the possibilities we have when it comes to designing. We learned about Parameters which are numerical factors that can define a set of operations. We used these Parameters in previous activities like in Dance Party which in that case, it involved beats. I found this activity helpful because it teaches me more about Javascript and I can put it in use in my website designs to make my page more interactive and interesting to the eye. Functions are really helpful for coding because you can call a whole set of steps in 1 line of code. Basically, you can do an animation using s function and call that animation using 1 line of code multiple times, which in my opinion, is a time saver.

My GameJam Experience By: Jorge Carty Diaz On Saturday December 1st, 2018 a GameJam organized by Games For Change and more, took place in Samsung NEXT's facilities. This event was very fun and educational, giving us an idea of what game developing looks like and how game developers struggle during their stage of creation. In this event, I've learned some of the key factors a game needs; challenge, name, rules, goal, etc. We also learned how important it is to write our ideas in paper and plan it out before we get into digital designing. I was introduced to a website that allows you to create games using very simple drag and place coding that if you take your time, you would be able to design something very nice. This website is called "Scratch". The website's layout looked very simple and complex at the same time, having so many options for animation and also clickable buttons and allows you to do many things. We were able to get in a group and de
